The power of sleep

Sleeping is an important part of life but people usually don’t pay enough attention to it. Although most of us know that we should sleep about 8 hours a   day only few follow this rule. It’s because we are not aware of the consequences of lack of sleep. Studies say that getting the right amount of good sleep is crucial to our health and well-beeing. This is the moment when our brain recharges and our cells repair themselves which provides better concentration and performance during the day . Instead, a lack of sleep may cause depression, anxiety and even serious health problems like infertility, diabets and heart disease. The right amount of sleep is also essential when it comes to weight loss because research shows that people who sleep less than 7 hours a day are much more likely to be obese. What’s important about sleep is also it’s quality. That’s why we should remove all the elecronic devices from the bedroom (to avoid electromagnetic waves), keep the bedroom quiet ...

The Palm House

If you’d   like to go   for a walk   or sit down in a park but low temperatures hardly let you go out of the house, remember that in Poznań there is a palm house, incredible place where you can feel like in tropical jungle for very cheap money. You will find there not only a wide variety of plants impossible to be seen in our climate like for example cactuses or palms, but also parrots and fish. The building is divided in few rooms due to   different types of plants and different temperatures   that they need. There is also an exhibition of exotic fruits and a pavilion with aquariums. If you’re not a big fan of nature you can just sit down on one of the benches or in a cosy coffee bar, enjoy warmth of this place, relax and forget, at least for the moment, about jackets, gloves and winter that is coming very soon.

Let’s go to the lake !

Is there anything better in a hot day than going to the nearest lake to relax in the shadow of trees and cool in the water? Well, yes, it would be probably better to go on the sea side. But if you can’t afford it or you just don’t have enough free time then lake is the best option. In Poznań, or actually in almost all the Poland, we have many lakes to choose to spend there a nice day. Poles like swimming   and having fun in the water which is the opposite to   British who don’t really understand this idea . If you ask any person in the UK about nice lakes to go they willcertainly ask you „for what?”.   And it’s not because they do not have lakes but because they are not used to spend their free time in such a way. What’s more, if you look for some information about places to swim in the UK in Internet, the majority of comments will be written by polish peole and, therefore, they will be the majority on the beaches. Anyway, as long as we stay in Poznań, let’s enj...
