Milan

If you live in Poznań and you are already bored with all it’s attractions  it’s normal that you start to look around for interesting places to visit. The closest options definitely are Wrocław, Warszwa and Barlin but another destination you may not have taken in consideration is a beautiful Italian city located less than 2 hours from Poznań. 2 hours by plane, of course.

Milan is the second most populous city in Italy and a worldwide known fashion capital. It’s a city of magnificent historic architecture hidden among modern buildings. The most important places to visit are:
  • Cathedral Square and Duomo Cathedral – the symbol od Milan antirely built of marble
  • La Scala – one of the most famous opera houses in the world
  • Royal Palace (Palazzo Reale)- former royal residence
  • Navigli district with a nework of canals and vibrant nightlife
What’s more Milan is beautifully located, in short distance from charming towns like Como and Bergamo where you can see traditional Italian buildings and try traditional Italian cuisine.

Tickets from Poznań to Milan start from 39 PLN and the flights are available every Tuesday and Saturday. Just perfect for a short (four or five days long) and not very expensive city break !

The Palm House

If you’d   like to go   for a walk   or sit down in a park but low temperatures hardly let you go out of the house, remember that in Poznań there is a palm house, incredible place where you can feel like in tropical jungle for very cheap money. You will find there not only a wide variety of plants impossible to be seen in our climate like for example cactuses or palms, but also parrots and fish. The building is divided in few rooms due to   different types of plants and different temperatures   that they need. There is also an exhibition of exotic fruits and a pavilion with aquariums. If you’re not a big fan of nature you can just sit down on one of the benches or in a cosy coffee bar, enjoy warmth of this place, relax and forget, at least for the moment, about jackets, gloves and winter that is coming very soon.

Let’s go to the lake !

Is there anything better in a hot day than going to the nearest lake to relax in the shadow of trees and cool in the water? Well, yes, it would be probably better to go on the sea side. But if you can’t afford it or you just don’t have enough free time then lake is the best option. In Poznań, or actually in almost all the Poland, we have many lakes to choose to spend there a nice day. Poles like swimming   and having fun in the water which is the opposite to   British who don’t really understand this idea . If you ask any person in the UK about nice lakes to go they willcertainly ask you „for what?”.   And it’s not because they do not have lakes but because they are not used to spend their free time in such a way. What’s more, if you look for some information about places to swim in the UK in Internet, the majority of comments will be written by polish peole and, therefore, they will be the majority on the beaches. Anyway, as long as we stay in Poznań, let’s enjoy nice lakes

Gibraltar

Today I would like to tell you something about one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been to - beautiful Gibraltar. This British Overseas Territory is located on the south coast of Iberian Peninsula and has only 6,7 km2. The landscape is dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar (426m high) which offers a lot of tourist attractions. There is a huge   st. Michael’s Cave with a concert hall inside, network of tunnels,   suspension bridge, medieval fortification – Moorish Castle, nature reserve where wild macaques live and, above all, amazing view on Africa. You can get on the top of the rock with a cable car, in a small bus with a   guide or on foot. At the foot of the mountain you can find more interesting places like beautiful beaches, Alameda Wildlife Park or a memorial of Władysław Sikorski on Europa Point. It’s also a big attraction just to cross the Gibraltar-Spain border what involves crossinga runway of Gibraltar’s airport.
